Dr. Derya Ayd?n was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1985. She received her B.Sc. Degree in Chemical and Food Engineering with double major from Hacettepe University in 2008. She received her M.Sc. Degree in Computational Sciences and Engineering from Koç University, Istanbul, in 2012. She has worked on Identifying small molecule inhibitors for biologically important targets in cancer during her M.Sc. study. She focused on design of functional composite materials and polymers during her Ph.D. Dr. Her publications from her PhD work attracted significant attention and were highlighted in The Washington Post, Scientific American, TV news and many national and international websites. Currently, she is working as R&D Platform Leader in pioneering chemical company of Turkey, AKKIM, specialized in production of basic chemicals, polymers and resins. She has been working here for more than four years and currently focuses on development of epoxy resins and biopolymers.
